It’s all about narrowing your options

Posted in Uncategorized by aulecteur on February 19, 2010

There’s a lot of competition out there. Multi-nationals, local small businesses, products, services; there are very few unique items. I can’t think of any at the moment myself…

If you’re one of the many selling the same service, how do you make yourself stand out?

If you’re in the service of helping people narrow their options, you bombard them with options, clutter their marketplace with choice and variety, overwhelm them and steer their purchase choice. If you have no interest in which choice is chosen it doesn’t really matter what they choose. Or does it?

Businesses that succeed in this hyper-competitive world are ones that care about the choices their clients make, they care that the choice is right for them and fits their lifestyle.

Know your clients. Listen to their ideas, opinions, dreams, and plans. Know what success looks like to them. Build trust, never judge, always seek to understand.

What you will succeed at is presenting a plethora of options, demonstrating your breadth of knowledge and expertise. You will have counseled your client toward making the right choice for them based on the information your client, your new friend, has shared with you. You will have followed up with your friend to make sure they’re happy.

You will get return business, referrals, and of all the competition and all the businesses selling the same thing, you will be in the very narrow focus of options and you will be chosen.
